On Sunday, Brock Purdy and the 49ers managed to win again, but the second-year quarterback also achieved something that has only been done by one other quarterback in the league’s history.

At the conclusion of Sunday’s 34-3 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Purdy had three touchdowns, 296 passing yards, and a quarterback rating of 148.9.

As the only two quarterbacks to record three games with three or more throwing touchdowns and a passer rating of 140 or better in their first two seasons, Purdy and Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner are unique. When Purdy last had a stat line like that, it was in Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys, when he finished with a 144.4 rating and four touchdown passes.

Warner called out the rookie quarterback for the Niners on X, the site that used to be called Twitter.

“Brock Purdy is stealing my records right now. Nothing remains holy these days, hehe! Well done, young man. Here’s another illustration: this youngster can play football flat. It’s difficult to stumble into situations like this. Warner posted on Twitter.

Even though Purdy was the last pick in the 2023 draft, he was nonetheless selected in the NFL Draft. After going undrafted in 1994, Warner—a two-time NFL MVP and Super Bowl winner—signed with the Packers. Warner traveled around the AFL and NFL Europe after Green Bay released him prior to the season, establishing his legacy as a starter for the Rams in 1999.
