Armstead has played well on a top-tier defensive line

Defensive end Arik Armstead of the San Francisco 49ers criticized offensive tackle Brandon Scherff of the Jacksonville Jaguars for what he called a “dirty lay” on Sunday.

Early in the game, Armstead accused Scherff of kicking and tripping him during the 49ers’ 34-3 rout of the Jaguars. With a knee injury, Armstead had to leave the game in the first quarter, but he was able to come back. It was brought up to him after the game.

He kind of ruined my day by kicking me in the knee and tripping me. According to NBC Sports Bay Area, Armstead stated, “I had no idea what had transpired. Although I have a great deal of respect for him, I could have been gravely injured if he had tripped over me or kicked me in the knee. It was merely a devious ploy.”

Throughout the game, Armstead recorded three tackles and a half-sack.

He has participated in every one of the 49ers’ nine regular-season games. With 18 tackles, he has three sacks on one of the NFL’s top defensive lines.

The 49ers ended the season with a 6-3 record, while the Jaguars dropped to 6-3. San Francisco and the Seattle Seahawks are tied for first place in the division. In the AFC South, the Jaguars are the only team in first place.
