During their five-game winning streak, the 49ers might have been affected by outside noise.

Javon Hargrave explains why the 49ers need to keep their blinders on after their….Many participants in the MVP discussion. It was everything going fine. Up until it didn’t.

On Tuesday’s episode of KNBR’s Murph & Mac, defensive tackle Javon Hargrave was questioned if the 49ers let their guard down and let the outside noise to affect them.

It’s challenging not to. We must all take something away from it. Just limit your reading. Avoid glancing too much. When everyone is complimenting you on how wonderful you are, it’s said to be rather poisonous. And while everyone is criticizing you, you are unable to read or hear them. Simply keeping the blinders on, remaining concentrated, and making an effort to improve each week.

After the bye week, Kyle Shanahan observed that his players “pissed off” at practice.

A similar emotion was expressed by Hargrave: “We were a little fed up.” We sensed it. The bye, in my opinion, was a fantastic opportunity for us to take a mental break and regroup. Everyone felt that with everyone when we returned to the building.

That was evident during the match. Flying around and making plays against the run that they hadn’t made all year were Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw. There was another intensity, if we simply stay with the defensive. And no, it’s not because Chase Young or Steve Wilks were inside the building—rather, it’s just because everyone raised their game.

Hargrave said, “It was just time,” in closing. That seems to have been the case from the game’s opening snap until its closing snap. All that was needed was hunger. That seems to be the way of thinking moving forward.

That showed during the game. Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw were flying around and were making plays against the run that they hadn’t all year. If we just stick with the defense, there was a different energy. And I’m not saying it’s because Steve Wilks was on the sideline, or Chase Young was in the building, but everyone took their game to another level.

Hargrave concluded with, “It was just time. I think that’s how it was from the first snap of the game until the last snap. Everybody was just hungry. I feel like that’s going to be the mindset from here on out.”
