It was reassuring to see the 49ers defense look elite once more after they had lost their previous two games. Still, there’s one defensive area where the 49ers need to get better. They are protecting against screen plays in that region.

The 49ers need to figure out a way to lessen their vulnerability to screen plays because they are extremely prone to being destroyed by them.

These are the weaknesses of some of that stuff, which has always been a problem for teams that play our style or are in passing situations, not just for us.

So, the fix here could lie with Steve Wilks in predicting when those screens are going to happen to inform his players to be prepared for it. I’m sure it’ll be a talking point throughout this week since Shanahan wants it to be tightened up.
