Head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, Kyle Shanahan, responded to the 66-yard touchdown throw between Brock Purdy and George Kittle.

The 49ers’ victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars was capped off by a spectacular 66-yard touchdown pass from Brock Purdy to tight end George Kittle in the third quarter.

The 49ers led the Jaguars 20-3 after the pass on their opening drive of the second half. Purdy was under intense pressure, but he made the ball to allow Kittle an opportunity to go one-on-one with Jacksonville linebacker Devin Lloyd despite the pressure. Kittle moved by Lloyd and into the end zone with the ball.

Following the game, Kyle Shanahan responded to the touchdown, saying, “It looks like somebody is throwing a grenade out of a bunker,” as reported by The Athletic’s David Lombardi. The throw was among Brock Purdy’s best of the season as he launched the pass over a swarming Jaguars’ defensive line and got it right into Kittle’s hands in stride. Purdy finished the day 19-26 for 296 yards and three touchdowns.

However, Kyle Shanahan did not approve of Purdy’s game-opening touchdown. With two Jaguars and two 49ers players nearby, Purdy rolled out to the left before tossing the ball back across the center for the first score. Shanahan stated, “That was one of his worst decisions I think he’s made since he’s been here,” despite wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk leaping up to grab the touchdown, according to NBC Sports Bay Area.

All in all, Brock Purdy and the 49ers are happy to accept another victory and two touchdowns. This Sunday, they play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
