According to Dallas Cowboys news, defensive tackle Carl Davis, a seasoned NFL veteran, has joined the organization. Center Billy Price was placed on the practice squad’s injured list, and the team made the announcement. Davis, a 6-foot-5, 335-pound defender, gives the Cowboys depth chart some more bulk.
On November 16, 2023, Patrik Walker of DallasCowboys.com tweeted, “Cowboys transaction: Carl Davis (DT) has been signed to the practice squad, taking the seat vacated by Billy Price, who was moved to practice squad/IR on Wednesday.” “Davis is a former third-round pick of the Ravens in 2015 out of Iowa and a 1T (primary) [one technique]. A former member of the All-Big Ten second team provides depth and insurance behind Jonathan Hankins and Mazi Smith at the position.
Most recently, before being cut on Halloween, Davis was a member of the Seahawks practice squad for just over a month. It just so happens that Thursday Night Football on November 30th features Dallas versus Seattle.
New Addition Carl Davis Had Stints With the Ravens, Patriots, Seahawks, Colts, Browns & Jaguars
During his nine NFL seasons, Davis has been a member of multiple clubs. From 2020 to 2022, the defender was a member of the Patriots, playing in 36 games with seven starts.
Following an impressive collegiate career at Iowa, Davis was taken by Baltimore in the third round of the 2015 NFL draft. Davis played for the Ravens for his first two seasons, making 28 games (12 starts).
Prior to moving to New England, the veteran previously had brief spells with the Browns, Colts, and Jaguars. Lance Zierlein of NFL.com characterized Davis as a “powerful player” who “fires off the ball with leverage” prior to the 2015 draft.
In his pre-draft profile, Zierlein stated, “Davis has the length, weight, and height of a first-round pick, but his lack of productivity as a pass rusher will hinder his draft value.” “Davis will have a long NFL career if he can get his overall production to match his talent and traits.”
