In San Francisco’s most recent victory, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has again disproved his naysayers.

In San Francisco’s 27-14 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, the second-year quarterback dispelled any doubts about his arm power and ability to deliver deep passes.

Deebo Samuel may know why Purdy appears to be more dominant in the field.

“It looks like my man been lifting a little bit of weights,” Samuel replied. “He appears to be growing stronger and it looks fantastic coming off his arm.

“I wouldn’t say the ball is excessively hard. He now had a slight touch and slight firmness to it.”

Purdy put on a faultless performance at Levi’s Stadium in the Week 11 triumph, earning him NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his “pretty good” arm strength. Purdy had a perfect passer rating of 158.3, completing 21 of 25 passes for 333 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Among them was the longest pass of Purdy’s career, a 76-yard touchdown pass to 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

With a 115.1 passer rating, the No. 262 pick—the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft—now sits atop the league.

Arm strength has been a major worry for Purdy since he graduated from college and even in the beginning of his professional career. He’s neither Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes, a showy quarterback with incredible arm strength. However, every game he finds a way to win by doing just enough.

General manager of the 49ers John Lynch stated Tuesday morning on KNBR’s “Murph & Mac” program, “I do believe from game one until now, I think Brock’s arm has continually gotten stronger” (h/t 49ers Webzone). “Perhaps it had a chance to rest over the bye week, and he returned with a little more juice. In actuality, though, it all comes down to placing it correctly. He has more arm strength than you could ever require. He tosses it with such accuracy. He just plays the position so damned well right now, and he makes such solid decisions. We must continue that.

Lynch remarked, “He has all the arm strength you’ll ever need.” Is it more robust than it was the previous year? I’m not sure, but judging by the flawless passer rating and all those other stuff, it seems to be doing really well right now. Above all, he guided us to victory. And Brock, who is so mature, was talking about Seattle in the locker room right away following that game. Thus, he comprehends. He’s an amazing [leader].”
