Head coach of the San Francisco 49ers Kyle Shanahan is sick of hearing about the subpar quarterback play. According to Shanahan, the performance of the team should always come first.

“This is the National Football League.” Shanahan stated, “You’ve got to have a really good football team,” following the 49ers’ Thanksgiving Day 31–13 away victory over the Seattle Seahawks (h/t David Lombardi of The Athletic).

Notwithstanding the fact that they lost in Weeks 6 and 8, the 49ers are unquestionably among the top teams in the NFL in 2023. The Niners have won three straight since returning from a Week 9 bye and are back to their winning ways.

Even though San Francisco was successful on the field, some people continue to have doubts about quarterback Brock Purdy’s performance. In the Seahawks game, Purdy completed 21 of 30 passes for 209 yards and a score in addition to an interception. Winning is what counts most to Shanahan and the Niners in the end, and there’s no doubting that Purdy plays a significant role in San Francisco’s supremacy.

With their defense stifling Seattle’s offense on Thanksgiving Day, the 49ers were arguably the biggest heroes. Two forced turnovers and a total of six sacks were recorded by the Niners. Additionally, on 19 carries, running back Christian McCaffrey scored two touchdowns and gained 114 yards of yardage.

The 49ers are not a one-man show, with plenty of great talents and contributors on both ends of the field.

After Thursday’s game and prior to a crucial road game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 13, San Francisco will enjoy a much-needed break.
