Last week, Tom Brady made waves when he slammed the NFL for its “mediocrity.” The football legend’s statements sparked outrage on social media, prompting other NFL veterans, like Aaron Rodgers, Shannon Sharpe, and Chad Johnson, to speak out on the same topic.

Chad, Shannon, and Rodgers have all shown their support for Tom Brady. However, one renowned former NFL player disagrees with Brady’s position. Alex Smith recently blasted Tom Brady’s recent statements about the NFL, and his stance drew a lot of attention online. Smith had the following to say:

Alex Smith’s hard-hitting reply to Tom Brady’s controversial “Mediocrity” comment

Alex Smith was recently seen on the Sunday NFL Countdown show by ESPN, during which he shared his take on Tom Brady calling out the “Medicricity in NFL.”

So what happened was Tom Brady was a part of the Stephen A. Smith Show last week.

During that episode, Tom Brady talked about the current state of the NFL. The former NFL quarterback said there’s more mediocrity in the NFL today compared to when he used to play. The primary reason he suggested for the same is poor coaching.

During a recent appearance on ESPN’s broadcast, Alex Smith expressed his dissatisfaction with a statement made by a retired NFL legend. Smith chastised the former Tampa Bay quarterback for whining about the sport’s quality despite having played it himself only last year.

“He hasn’t been retired for very long. He was just having fun. He recently won the Super Bowl in the ‘current game.’ Is he dismissing that?” remarked the former Commanders, Chiefs, and 49ers quarterback.

Tom Brady’s other comment blasted today’s NFL coaching for being ineffective in the overall development of young players. According to the NFL veteran, the tight NFL rules have hampered the actual performance of the players in the game.

Alex Smith does not share Tom Brady’s enthusiasm. In fact, the retired Tampa Bay quarterback believes the polar opposite of what the former 49ers quarterback believes about the NFL. Smith believes that, if anything, the game has improved in recent years.

Alex Smith believes that Tom Brady had no competition during his days

Tom Brady’s final season as a quarterback in the NFL was with the Tamba Bay Buccaneers in 2022-2023, after which he retired. So, technically, the retired NFL legend was a part of the version of the NFL that he attacked.

That’s not all, Alex also thinks that Brady played in the least competitive division of the NFL. Brady just got the ticket to the playoff without much effort, that’s what Smith’s statement reflects.

“He played in the NFL’s least competitive division in history.” “I mean, you come out of training camp in the biggest cupcake division, and you’ve already got a ticket to the playoffs,” Alex Smith said on Sunday NFL Countdown.

Alex Smith has been an ESPN analyst for the past three years. Tom Brady will be a Fox Sports analyst starting next year. Do you believe he’ll answer to Alex’s comment, despite his busy schedule?
