49ers’ Kyle Shanahan comments about Eagles HC Nick Sirianni ahead of NFL Week 13 Sunday epic showdown
Kyle Shanahan has nothing but affection and respect for Nick Sirianni. That much is evident, as the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers showered praise on the Philadelphia Eagles strategist before of their Week 13 matchup.
Shanahan was questioned about Sirianni and what makes him a good head coach before the 49ers take on the Eagles on the road on Sunday. The 43-year-old coach lavished praise on his Philadelphia rival, highlighting the accountability that Sirianni has instilled in his team.
“Observing how accountable he holds his team, how hard they play, and the style in which they play.” On offensively, I appreciate their emphasis on the run game. That’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. It’s not only that they’re committed to the run, but they also know what they’re doing,” Shanahan explained to 49ers Webzone as he went into further detail about what makes Sirianni an incredible coach.
“They understand how to run the quarterback.” They understand the modifications that defenses must make. When they make those tweaks, they know how to use them as a pass. So I have a lot of respect for him, just based on what they’ve done there. I don’t know him well, but [Philadelphia Eagles Senior Vice President of Communications] Bob Lange speaks well of him, so he must be a nice guy.”
Kyle Shanahan couldn’t have put it better, and those who watch the Eagles on a regular basis couldn’t deny it either. Nick Sirianni is a big reason why Philadelphia is at the top of the NFL and has only lost once in 11 games.
Of course, Shanahan will try his hardest to outcoach Sirianni when they face this Sunday in Week 13. Sure enough, the two brilliant head coaches will engage in a tactical war. The 49ers are also one of the better teams in the NFL, lead by emerging sensation Brock Purdy, and the Eagles will have to be wary of him as they attempt to maintain their league supremacy.
