On Sunday afternoon, head coach Kyle Shanahan and his San Francisco 49ers improved their record on the 2023-24 NFL season to an incredible 9-3 with a convincing road win over the Philadelphia Eagles, who had been the best club in the NFL so far this year.

The game was a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship Game between the two teams, which the Eagles won after San Francisco suffered a slew of injuries both before and during the game.

Surprisingly, despite the 49ers’ 42-19 ultimate margin of victory, San Francisco got off to a poor start in this one, allowing the Eagles to march down the field on both of their two opening possessions while doing little on offense. Shanahan, on the other hand, was happy of his team’s early “bend but don’t break” mindset.

According to Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports, after the game, Shanahan remarked that the fact that San Francisco was able to keep the Eagles to field goals on both of those two possessions was the “coolest part” among “pretty bad decisions and mistakes” on offense.

“It was a huge deal and a very good feeling,” Shanahan explained.
