The Eagles have been behind at halftime several times this season, but it has never been a huge issue until Sunday.

They entered their game against the 49ers having won five straight games, four of which saw them come back from halftime deficits to win. A 14-6 deficit to the 49ers at halftime expanded to a 42-19 loss this time, and head coach Nick Sirianni acknowledged the 10-2 club has a lot of work to do after falling flat against one of the NFC’s top rivals.

“We didn’t coach well enough, and we didn’t play well enough,” Sirianni admitted. “It’s as simple as that.” And why don’t you do it? You have to give them credit as well. That’s a fantastic football team. It will appear like such if you do not come out and play your best game against the players and coaches they have. As a result, we must improve our coaching. I need to improve my game. We have a lot of work to do.”

The Eagles may get another chance to play the 49ers in the postseason, but they’ll need to fix what went wrong on Sunday quickly if they want to be at home for that game. They’ll be in Dallas in Week 14, and if they don’t beat the Cowboys, their lead for the top NFC seed will go.
