The Philadelphia Eagles, who had the best record in the NFL, were defeated 42-19 by the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

It was the type of defeat that serves as a wake-up call, as their defense was exposed while the 49ers were able to contain quarterback Jalen Hurts like few teams have in recent years.

The Eagles are still 10-2, but they are in danger of losing first place in the NFC and needing to win a playoff game on the road in order to return to the Super Bowl.

On FS1’s “Speak,” LeSean McCoy, a former standout running back who spent multiple years with the Eagles, said fans shouldn’t be alarmed because of the team’s grit.

Prior to the 49ers game, Philly had rallied from behind to win a number of games, demonstrating their ability to withstand adversity.

They still have an MVP candidate in quarterback Jalen Hurts, who has defied critics and doubters from his college days to become a star.

The expectation is that this week’s signing of linebacker Shaquille Leonard will provide the squad with some of the defensive traits it has been lacking.

The Eagles will play another big game this Sunday, this time on the road against the Dallas Cowboys, which might determine who wins the NFC East.
