The Dre Greenlaw and Dom DiSandro incident surely enraged the San Francisco 49ers. The Philadelphia Eagles’ chief of security was also dismissed from the game after making contact with Greenlaw in the third quarter. Following a touchdown by Philadelphia on the drive involving the sideline brawl, the 49ers outscored the Eagles 21-6, preventing the incident from rousing Philadelphia.

“We had to move on and play the next play,” Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni stated. “So all we were trying to do in that situation was move on, get the ball inside the 12-yard line or something after the personal foul, and just regroup and get everybody going and play the next play.”

“Just like we do when we have a bad play, a good play, bad game, good game, we’re going to have to pick ourselves up off the mat going into this week as well.”

Greenlaw has been the 49ers’ emotional leader. He received an unnecessary roughness penalty for excessive contact on Kenneth Gainwell in the 2023 NFC Championship game, as well as a face mask penalty for bringing down Boston Scott.

The 49ers fed off Greenlaw’s intensity – and continued to do so even after he was ejected from the game.

“That is why I tried my hardest not to lose my mind,” Shanahan explained. “I hope I didn’t embarrass myself too bad.”
