Kyle Shanahan offers injury updates on Elijah Mitchell, Arik Armstead, Spencer Burford, ahead of 49ers vs Seahawks

During his weekly appearance on Bay Area radio station KNBR, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan delivered injury updates, providing light on the situations of some ill players ahead of the team’s Week 14 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.

Arik Armstead has yet to return to practice this week due to foot and knee concerns. Shanahan stated on Wednesday that he would be surprised to see his veteran defensive lineman on the field this weekend. Nothing has changed a day later.

“Armstead’s still looking like a long shot,” Shanahan stated on the “Tolbert and Copes” show. “I haven’t officially ruled him out, but I’ll consult with the doctors.” But I have a feeling that will happen tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, guard Spencer Burford and running back Elijah Mitchell were among the seven players who did not practice on Thursday due to knee problems. Shanahan is still optimistic about their availability.

“Burford and Mitchell, neither of them were able to go today, but they both still have a big chance [to play],” he said. “Hopefully, they’ll be able to get out on the practice field tomorrow.”

The complete conversation with Shanahan can be heard below.
