The 49ers’ interior defensive line depth will be put to the test Sunday in a vital NFC West matchup at Levi’s Stadium.

Defensive tackle Arik Armstead has been ruled out of the 49ers’ Week 14 game against the Seattle Seahawks due to foot and knee concerns, according to coach Kyle Shanahan.

In place of Armstead, Javon Kinlaw is scheduled to make his second start of the season. Kinlaw had two sacks as the 49ers defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 42-19.

“That’s what makes Deebo different,” Shanahan explained to Greg Papa. “First of all, to have a linebacker hit you like that and to bounce off him like he does everybody, I mean, it’s just different to have the base that Deebo has, the hips, the width of his body, it’s not built like a normal receiver,” Angelina Martin of NBC Bay Area reported.

“And that’s what his advantage is in situations like that, but people like that can’t go zero to 100 as fast as he does,” he remarked. “The way Deebo does it, when he gets that and has a direct line where he can go across the court, as we’ll say, it’s rarely not to the house.”

On top of his skillset, Deebo Samuel has a thick build at 6-foot, 215 lbs that makes him a nightmare for defenders to tackle. With his performance against the Eagles, it’s easy to see why he’s so important for the 49ers offense.
