The Seahawks kept the 49ers tighter than they did in their first meeting on Thanksgiving night. But the outcome was the same: San Francisco defeated their division opponent 28-16 on Sunday afternoon.

On the first play from scrimmage, running back Christian McCaffrey took a handoff 72 yards for the Niners. On the next snap, running back Jordan Mason ran it into the end zone for a 3-yard score.

DK Metcalf’s 31-yard touchdown and Jason Myers’ 40-yard field goal gave Seattle the next 10 points. However, a 54-yard touchdown reception by Deebo Samuel midway through the second quarter gave the 49ers a 14-10 lead.

From then, San Francisco never looked back, as Samuel’s 1-yard touchdown run put the team up 21-10. Drew Lock’s 25-yard touchdown pass to tight end Colby Parkinson made it intriguing, but the two-point conversion attempt failed.

Tight end George Kittle capped out the scoring early in the fourth quarter with a 44-yard touchdown run.

Quarterback Brock Purdy performed admirably throughout the game, going 19-of-27 for 368 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

McCaffrey carried 16 times for 145 yards. He also had one 8-yard reception.

Samuel led the team with seven catches for 149 yards, while Brandon Aiyuk had six catches for 126 yards as well. Kittle had three receptions for 76 yards.

San Francisco ended with 527 total yards and 9.9 yards per play, a season best. On third down, the club was 6-of-11.

Drew Lock began in place of Geno Smith, who was out with a groin issue. Lock finished 22-of-31 for 269 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Tyler Lockett led all receivers with six catches for 89 yards. Zach Charbonnet had nine carries for 44 yards, but Kenneth Walker, who was back from an oblique injury, only managed eight carries for 21 yards.

Metcalf and 49ers defensive back Deommodore Lenoir were both ejected late in the fourth quarter after a skirmish erupted in the aftermath of a Lock interception.

The 49ers improved to 10-3 and have now won five straight games. Next week, they will travel to face the division foe Cardinals.

Seattle is 6-7, having dropped three of its last four games. According to the Fox broadcast, this is the first time the Seahawks have lost four games in a row under Pete Carroll. Next weekend, on Monday night, they will host the Eagles.
