Although quarterback Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers is enjoying a season worthy of an MVP, he is aware that he would not be in the running for the honor without the support of his teammates.

During an appearance on 104.5 FM KNBR on Tuesday, Purdy remarked, “If anything, I look at it more as a team award.” “My amazing surrounding cast is performing plays… That speaks something about the group I lead.”

Purdy, the final choice in the 2023 draft, is playing quarterback for San Francisco and is enjoying an incredible season. He has completed 70.2 percent of his throws for 3,553 yards and 25 touchdowns versus seven interceptions through 13 games. He has also gained 138 yards and two touchdowns through rushes.

Although Purdy is a strong candidate for MVP, others have said that he shouldn’t win because he has so many offensive weapons in the form of Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, and Brandon Aiyuk.

To be fair, though, Purdy has been more successful under center in San Francisco than Jimmy Garoppolo or Trey Lance, even though they both had those same weapons. Lance is currently with the Dallas Cowboys, while Garoppolo is with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Purdy’s performance made the 49ers the first club to secure a postseason trip this year, after they defeated the Seattle Seahawks 28–16 on Sunday and the Green Bay Packers fell to the New York Giants on Monday night.

Both the 49ers and the Cowboys are 10-3, but San Francisco leads the NFC after defeating Dallas 42-10 on October 8.
