According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, quarterback EJ Perry’s agent Sean Stellato has verified that the team is signing him with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Perry, who is represented by Tommy DeVito of the New York Giants, will give Jacksonville depth while Trevor Lawrence is still undergoing concussion protocol.

Perry, a former player in training camp for the Houston Texans and Jaguars, was an undrafted free agent. He showed promise when playing collegiate ball at Brown University. Even though he hasn’t had many opportunities in the NFL thus far, at 25 years old, he might eventually be given one.

He will now be ranked No. 3 among quarterbacks by the Jaguars, behind only Lawrence and CJ Beathard.

Jaguars’ playoff outlook

The Baltimore Ravens defeated Jacksonville in Week 15, 23-7. Lawrence completed the game with 264 passing yards, including a touchdown throw on a 25-43 play. But following the game, he was put under concussion protocol, which is why Jacksonville added Perry.

After Sunday’s setback, the Jaguars’ record is currently 8-6. The AFC South suddenly has fierce competition, with the Texans and Indianapolis Colts both having 8-6 records. There is a good likelihood that all three teams will win the division.

Jacksonville is undoubtedly hoping Lawrence can get back to work as soon as possible. But because the quarterback is in the concussion protocol, they will go cautiously.

Although the Jaguars’ upcoming schedule isn’t particularly challenging, they still can’t afford to undervalue any team. In Week 16, Jacksonville, who has lost three straight games, will travel to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
