With an 8-3 record at the end of November, some people questioned whether the Jacksonville Jaguars were really developing into Super Bowl candidates.

However, they have already dropped three straight games and are presently tied for the top record in the AFC South with the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts.

In fact, there’s a potential they won’t even make the playoffs if they don’t win their division.

Trevor Lawrence, the Jaguars’ quarterback, could not be able to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, as the team is also vying for first place in their division. Ian Rapoport has more information about this.

Jacksonville’s starting quarterback will probably be C.J. Beathard if Lawrence is unable to clear the concussion protocol in a timely manner.

There were great expectations for 2023 after the team concluded the previous season on a hot streak and defeated the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, overcoming a 27-0 deficit.

However, given that they are still a young team, they probably have some growing to do before they can be regarded as serious competitors.

However, the AFC appears wide open with several starting quarterbacks sidelined by injuries and the reigning world champion Kansas City Chiefs struggling, so if a lot of things go right for the Jaguars, they could be able to make it through.

They play the middling Tennessee Titans and the miserable Carolina Panthers to close out the regular season after this weekend, so if they win on Sunday, they should have a great chance of finishing with an 11-6 record.
