Many people currently believe that Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys is the front-runner for the Defensive Player of the Year award.

With 12.5 sacks, 27 quarterback hits, and 14 tackles for loss after 14 games, he is largely responsible for the Cowboys’ sixth-place finish in total yards allowed and fifth-place finish in points surrendered.

Parsons answered requests on Twitter from some fans who want to see him play a different role and become an off-the-ball linebacker.

In their loss to the Buffalo Bills last Saturday, the Cowboys allowed James Cook to run wild for 169 running yards on 25 rushing attempts. The Cowboys have occasionally struggled to stop the run.

However, Parsons has taken the lead in that area and their pass defense has often been excellent.

Dallas, who now owns a 10-4 record, is actively vying for the top spot in the NFC East. They are ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles, who are also 10-4, by a slim margin.

If the San Francisco 49ers, who now own the best record in the NFC, lose to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday, there’s even a remote chance they may end up as the conference’s top seed.

In addition to Parsons’ performance, there is a persistent worry about the Cowboys’ capacity to overcome challenging opponents in crucial games throughout the winter, a concern rekindled by their 21-point defeat to the Bills.

When they play the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, they will have a chance to allay that worry since they are the team with the greatest and most potent offense in the NFL.
