Trevor Lawrence might play against the Buccaneers in Week 16 if he shows up to practice on Friday.

Trevor Lawrence, the quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars, will work out on Friday, head coach Doug Pederson announced this afternoon.

Lawrence didn’t practice on Wednesday or Thursday. He is currently under concussion protocol after self-reporting symptoms following Sunday’s 23-7 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens.

Pederson stated that although Lawrence would practice as much as he can handle, he wouldn’t necessarily be limited on Friday.

This week, Pederson admitted that he wasn’t positive which play Lawrence was hurt on, but he thought it was during a scramble in the final minutes of the game.

During the Jaguars’ last drive, Lawrence scrambled three times; the Ravens’ inside linebacker Roquan Smith violently hit Lawrence after one of his scrambles.

As stated by the NFL:

After a head injury, a player enters the concussion protocol if they show symptoms or report signs that point to a concussion or stinger, which is a nerve pinch injury; alternatively, the protocol can be started by the team’s athletic trainer, booth ATC spotter, team physician, NFL game official, coach, teammate, sideline Unaffiliated Neurotrauma Consultant (UNC), or booth UNC.

“A five-step procedure must be followed by each NFL player who has been diagnosed with a concussion before they are cleared to fully practice or take part in an NFL game. The NFL claims that this procedure, which was created using globally recognized standards, guarantees that every player receives the same level of care.

“There is no predetermined period of time for returning to competition; every player and every concussion is different. When managing a player’s care, team medical staff takes into account the player’s current concussion condition in addition to past exposures, medical history, family history, and future risk. Once a player has completed the five steps and received the all-clear from his club physician to participate fully, he needs to see and be cleared by an Independent Neurological Consultant (INC), who is not associated with any NFL clubs and has been jointly approved by the NFL and NFLPA. A player is not permitted to return to contact practice or participate in an NFL game until approved by this independent physician.”

Lawrence, who has battled through injuries to his knee in Week 6 and his ankle in Week 13 this year alone, has not missed a start in his career.
