The quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers disclosed his sideline chat with head coach Kyle Shanahan during the Brock Purdy benching controversy.

In the fourth quarter of the miserable 33-19 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Christmas Night, Purdy suffered a stinger-type injury. Even while he appeared prepared to play again after backup quarterback Sam Darnold led a touchdown drive, he chose not to.

With four interceptions and a quarterback rating of 67.9 against Purdy’s 42.6, Darnold outperformed Purdy overall. After signing with the 49ers, Darnold—a former No. 3 draft pick—lost out to Purdy for the starting position.

Brock Purdy: ‘This is the Reality of the NFL’

Despite an 11-3 start, Purdy appeared to be an MVP contender until Week 16, and he is confident in his ability to turn things around.

“I feel like I constantly have to ask myself, ‘Well, who are you?'” What values do you uphold? When things are going well, who are you? When things don’t go your way, who are you? When things are going well, it’s simple to get carried away and believe you’re the best, Purdy remarked.

“The NFL operates in this reality. Therefore, I must undoubtedly examine myself in the mirror, review the plays in which I need to improve, make some better choices, assist my team in scoring points and putting up scores, and improve ball protection,” Purdy continued.

Brock Purdy Not Concerned About Either Stinger

Despite taking a blow in Week 15 against the Arizona Cardinals, Purdy stayed in the game. His most recent outburst made some wonder how soon he will recover from this one.

Purdy commented, “I mean, I played the whole game fine, not thinking about it or anything,” in reference to the Cardinals stinger. It didn’t even exist. And similar to last week, the way I was tackled on that play kind of just flared up again. I thus had to repeat the entire protocol procedure in the tent and all of its related steps. That’s simply the way things transpired.

Purdy reiterated that he will play in Week 17 against the Washington Commanders on New Year’s Eve despite this most recent incident. Having played 93% of the team’s snaps this season, he has proven to be durable.

Regarding Monday’s stinger, Purdy stated, “it was just on fire at first and eventually over time it had gone away.” “But eventually, just like last week, returned.”
