David Tepper, the owner of the Carolina Panthers, received a harsh punishment on Tuesday night from the NFL. Tepper’s season has been lengthy, and in Week 18, when the Panthers lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars, he lost his cool.

The top choice in the 2024 NFL Draft went to the Chicago Bears as a result of the Panthers’ defeat over the Jaguars. In order to choose Bryce Young, the Panthers made a trade with the Bears during the previous summer. After selecting Young in the draft and signing Frank Reich as head coach, the club declined. In the middle of the season, Reich was sacked.

These must be some of the things that irritated Tepper on Sunday afternoon when a video of him hurling liquid into a gathering of Jaguars supporters went viral.

The NFL fines the Carolina Panther’s owner

It’s unclear if Tepper will be charged by battery or by an assault. Tepper did receive one penalty from the NFL, though, prior to any possible legal action. Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reports that Tepper was fined $300,000 by the league for the Jacksonville incident. Tepper made an announcement on Tuesday:

“I regret my actions on Sunday and have a great deal of passion for this squad. Any problems should have been handled by NFL stadium security, not me. I agree to the NFL’s code of conduct and accept any consequences the League may impose for my actions.

In his statement, Tepper seems to place the blame on the spectators, saying he should have left the league’s security to handle any issues that arose prior to the widely shared video.

Tepper is currently filled with regrets. Will they teach him anything?
