J.J. McCarthy, a player known for his pregame mediation, was caught by cameras soaking in every bit of Michigan’s come-from-behind overtime Rose Bowl win over Alabama long after the final whistle.

Long after the fanfare of the on-field celebration ended, the standout quarterback walked around a near-empty Rose Bowl Stadium and explored the end zone.

After reaching the middle of the Crimson Red Alabama end zone, the junior signal-caller crouched down on top of the Maize and Blue Michigan confetti taking in every moment of the thrilling victory.

McCarthy, who coach Jim Harbaugh declared to be the greatest quarterback in program history, is savoring Big Blue’s historic 2023 season, which might end with a national championship if the team defeats No. 2 Washington next week.

At SI Sportsbook, the Wolverines, who are ranked #1 in the country, are currently 4.5-point favorites to win their final game at NRG Stadium on January 8.
