On being in charge of their own fate, the Jacksonville Jaguars head coach offered his opinion.

The Tennessee Titans (5-11) and the AFC South-leading Jacksonville Jaguars (9-7) will square off on Sunday at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Jaguars will win the AFC South title for the second time in a row if they defeat the Carolina Panthers, who they defeated 26-0 at EverBank Stadium on Sunday, ending a four-game losing streak.

They can’t win the South if they lose, but they may still qualify for the playoffs as a wild card if the Denver Broncos fall to the Las Vegas Raiders and the Baltimore Ravens defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday.

According to John Oehser of Jaguars.com, Jaguars coach Doug Pederson is well aware that the club is in charge of its own fate, and he’s not letting his players back down from a challenge:

“We welcome it,” Doug Pederson, the head coach, stated on Monday. “We wouldn’t be in this scenario, but we could’ve performed better in a couple of our previous games here. We are excited about the opportunity on Sunday and we own it.

QB Trevor Lawrence was sidelined by a shoulder ailment that prevented him from playing for the Jaguars last week. But there’s a strong possibility he’ll return for the team’s Week 18 matchup with the Titans. Reports state that Jacksonville will start Lawrence in their last regular season game against the Titans in Week 18 if they need to win to get to the playoffs. After taking a break in Week 17, Lawrence played in his first NFL game.

In 15 games this season, Lawrence has passed for 3,736 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

The Jaguars will win the AFC South title for the second time in a row if they defeat the Carolina Panthers, who they defeated 26-0 at EverBank Stadium on Sunday, ending a four-game losing streak.
