This weekend, the Jacksonville Jaguars made their pre-game assessment of injured quarterback Trevor Lawrence public. There was a video of Lawrence during practice on Friday that appeared to be unimpressive for his Sunday throwing performance.

To win the AFC South, the Jaguars need to defeat the Tennessee Titans. The Jaguars might be eliminated before the postseason with a loss.

Early on Friday morning, it was reported that Lawrence’s availability to play the Titans this week might be in doubt because of injuries to his left finger and shoulder. Lawrence’s shoulder injury kept him out of the Jaguars’ victories over the Carolina Panthers in Week 17.

The Jacksonville Jaguars provide an update on Lawrence

Henry Zimmer of Big Cat Country reports that Doug Pederson, the head coach, stated on Friday that Lawrence stated the Jaguars would decide at game time whether their top quarterback’s body is fit enough to play the Titans:

Pederson described Lawrence as having “handled it great” on Friday.”Day by day, that is.” His big day is going to be on Friday. He is making good progress. He won’t have thrown as hard on Friday as he did on Thursday or the days prior.

“He has spent the entire week interested and tuned in. It’s just the physical portion right now, Pederson added.

Ultimately, Lawrence has the responsibility to communicate to the coaching staff what his body is telling him.

“If he is good to go, he is good to go,” Pederson said.

In practice this week, Lawrence hasn’t put much strain on his body. In a video posted on Friday, Michael Di Rocco of ESPN claimed that Lawrence threw more than he had previously in the week. But in the footage, Lawrence is seen making mistakes when performing an exercise.

It looks like that shoulder could be affecting Lawrence’s accuracy.

Lawrence has two more days to recover physically before facing the Titans. However, Lawrence won’t be throwing at full strength even if he is able to play in Week 17.
