One crucial moment in the 28-20 loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday destroyed the Jacksonville Jaguars’ hopes of making the playoffs.

With just over seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the Titans stuffed the Jaguars on fourth and goal from the 1-yard line. Jacksonville would have had an opportunity to tie the game with the subsequent two-point convert if they had scored.

QB Trevor Lawrence controversially attempted a sneak to score a touchdown but was stuffed. Lawrence clarified during the game that the play at the line of scrimmage was altered from the original call for a handoff, a decision he appeared to regret.

Lawrence stated, “Maybe in that situation, just let the play ride, hope you get in, let the running backs and the guys up front do their jobs.” “It is now finished. They put their trust in me to make that decision. It was unsuccessful. I have to accept responsibility for that. I’m to blame. It’s one of those plays where you have to execute it well in order to win.

The call surprised some because Lawrence has been recovering from a shoulder ailment. It’s possible that the quarterback’s poor performance when tossing the ball on Sunday was taken into account.

Lawrence will be able to consider the call for some time. The Jaguars’ late-season collapse, which will raise many questions about their future, caused them to go from 8-3 to missing the playoffs.
