Clelin Ferrell, an edge rusher with the San Francisco 49ers, hurt his knee against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 18. Ferrell’s MRI is scheduled for Monday, and head coach Kyle Shanahan stated the team will have more details then. Ferrell’s injury was not an ACL or MCL.

Ferrell may wind up missing a playoff game, according to Shanahan, even though the 49ers have a bye week. A wrist injury occurred to Tayler Hawkins near the end of the game. The 49ers emerged unscathed from a glorified scrimmage other from that.

According to Shanahan, the club decided to use tight end George Kittle and linebacker Dre Greenlaw as a safety precaution:

“No, they were undoubtedly attempting to go, but Kittle is experiencing back pain. As soon as that started during the pregame, we stopped him. Before the game, Dre’s Achilles tendonitis was acting up a little bit more. Once we learned about it, we knew we were secure with him.

On the first drive, each offense had the ball for more than five minutes. The first quarter was consumed by that for all but two minutes. It was a good move because the remaining starters were spared from considerable playing time in the aftermath.

Before Sunday, Shanahan gave an explanation of his strategy for players like Trent Williams and Nick Bosa:

“No, I informed Trent and Nick that our goal was to arrive between 10 and 15. With roughly ten plays in the initial drive, it was flawless. Trent was thrilled by that. The defense seemed strange at first; I thought they had an 11-play drive in the first play, and then we might have had a pick on the first play. Before they tried to get Puka [Nacua] the ball at the very end of the two minutes, there were only about twelve plays. However, after a little while, I took them outside at the conclusion of the second quarter, and nobody returned for the second half.

The 49ers’ top concern was making it through Week 18 without suffering any serious injuries. Ferrell’s fate is still unknown, but the operation was successfully completed. According to Shanahan, he held his breath throughout the whole of the game in an attempt to stay injury-free:

“The entire game. As much as you want to succeed, you also want to ensure that success. That’s a terrible thing to have with Cle. However, the most of the other things went rather smoothly.

Now, the 49ers will enter postseason play. This week, Shanahan stated the team will practice “real hard” several times during his postgame press conference. This week, there will be one day of team conditioning and two intense workouts.
