Over Super Wild Card Weekend, the Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions will play on Sunday night. Sean McVay attempted to avoid making the game between Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff or their shared history with Detroit and Los Angeles by focusing instead on the teams, the Rams and Lions, in yesterday’s upcming showdown. These two teams have a ton of history together, both recent and old, which is why this game is highly anticipated on television. It’s an NFL playoff game, too. Even by itself, it’s thrilling.

Will the teams be able to concentrate on the present? How will Goff be affected by his previous Rams experience? Is Stafford feeling anything because of his past with the Lions? These are all probably professionals who can distinguish between what is and isn’t important. However, these are also human, and occasionally humans allow the trivial to become important. Do we wait for Sunday night all this week?

Have a fantastic Tuesday and feel free to comment on anything you’d like to!

Dan Campbell is aware of the external allure around the Lions-Rams, but he won’t focus on the past (mlive)

“The head coach of the Lions feels that everyone involved is aware of the past and that it is unnecessary to discuss or confront those previous events. Campbell is aware of the hype surrounding this postseason matchup, though, as Matthew Stafford is making his first trip back to Ford Field since he requested to leave Detroit early in 2021.

“Well, I can see why it will captivate people,” Campbell remarked. “I get that. I suppose that if I sit where other people are, I can still appreciate it. You know, I realize it’s just one of these stories.

“But let me just say that we win as a team, and (Jared) Goff is aware of this, for example. The Lions defeat the Rams in this game, and we do so in three phases. And Goff is a major contributor to it; all he needs to do is contribute. He is aware of this. Simply carry on as you have throughout the year.

The Los Angeles Rams defeated the San Francisco 49ers 21–20 on Sunday to wrap up the 2023 regular season. They ended their nine-game losing streak against the 49ers during the regular season with their tenth victory of the year.

Even though Carson Wentz and Sam Darnold were the quarterbacks, there were enough players available for the contest to be close even though neither club used all of their starters.

Based on their Pro Football Focus grades, these are the Rams’ top and bottom offensive and defensive performances.

“Goff, whose career was in disarray, and the Lions went from being fringe Super Bowl contenders to absolute contenders. After years of stupidity in Detroit, Stafford moved to Los Angeles and won a Super Bowl. The narrative has been completed; the following section is still pending. Stafford and the comeback, Goff and redemption. Sean McVay facing the quarterback he fumbled. A storyteller’s dream, this is.

The Super Bowl-winning coach isn’t playing into tales, and McVay isn’t a storyteller. Following the Rams’ victory on Sunday, McVay had this to say about his former quarterback.

McVay added of Goff, “I have more respect for him as time goes on.” “He is an absolute gentleman, and he has done so much excellent work for us here. He has greatly benefited them. They are in this situation for a purpose. They have had a fantastic offensive, and he has done a tremendous job of directing it, so we must do everything in our power to go play a good, clean game and try to be able to win. He, Coach Johnson, and Coach Campbell, of course. Those are entertaining stories, in my opinion, but all I can say is thank you.
