The NFC playoff wild card round will include a game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers. The Cowboys had a successful season, going 12-5 and taking home the NFC East title. After Jordan Love’s first complete season at the quarterback position and the Packers’ playoff run, the team is feeling very optimistic about its future.

The Cowboys were definitely hoping to make it to the Super Bowl going into the season. Dak Prescott, the quarterback, discussed that prior to their game versus Green Bay.

Dallas Cowboys Dak Prescott Had One Message Ahead Of The Green Bay Packers Coming To Town

According to Timm Hamm of Cowboys Country:

After the Dallas Cowboys’ victory against Washington, Prescott was questioned by TV reporters about why he wasn’t sporting a “Dallas Cowboys NFC East Champions” helmet or shirt.

Prescott replied, “I want something better.”

What was Prescott’s message? Gaining the East is insufficient. His focus is on a greater goal.

After the 1995 season, the Cowboys have only made it to the Divisional Round of the playoffs five times, all of which ended in losses.

Dallas had only made four trips to the playoffs since Prescott was selected in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft; they had lost two of those trips in the Wild Card round and two of those trips in the Divisional Round.

The Packers Stand In The Way Of Mike McCarthy Possibly Winning Another Ring

The Cowboys finished the season with a 12-5 record in 2023 for the third consecutive year. Mike McCarthy served as the head coach for all three. But the Cowboys were eliminated from the playoffs in the divisional round in 2022 and the wild card round in 2021, respectively.

Although Dallas’s regular season performances have pleased supporters, their lack of success McCarthy and the Cowboys’ other players are feeling the pressure during the postseason.

If McCarthy’s former squad is to overcome their current one, they must agree as a priority. The Packers have won three games in a row, all of which were required to qualify for the postseason. Jordan Love had a great first campaign with the Green Bay Packers, logging over 4,100 yards through the air, 36 total touchdowns (four rushing, 32 passing), and just 11 interceptions.

The Packers are 5-0 at AT&T Stadium (including their victory in Super Bowl XLV), it should be mentioned.
