Before her family travels back to Detroit to witness her husband Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams play the Detroit Lions in the wild-card game on Sunday at 8 p.m., Kelly Stafford has a lot on her plate and a lot of preparing to do.

Additionally, she still didn’t have a seat for the game as of this past Sunday, which she intended to attend at Ford Field with their four daughters and other family members.

In the most recent episode of her weekly podcast, “The Morning After with Kelly Stafford & Hank,” she provided a glimpse into all the feelings surrounding the family’s return to the Motor City.

Prior to a sensational trade to the Rams in 2021 that finally resulted in Los Angeles winning the Super Bowl, Matthew spent 12 seasons as a player for the Lions. The return of starting quarterback Jared Goff to the Lions along with several highly valued draft picks have completely changed the franchise.

Matthew will be playing at Ford Field for the first time since he submitted a trade request in January 2021 in the wild-card game in Detroit. However, he did defeat the Lions in Los Angeles in 2021, 28-19.

When podcast co-host Hank Winchester of WDIV-TV asked her what it would be like to be at Ford Field as the wife of the Rams quarterback rather than the Lions quarterback, she broke down in tears.

“The support that that city gave us on some of the hardest times of our lives will be my immediate feel,” she continued. “It will always be a memorable experience for me to enter the stadium carrying my two small daughters and exit the tunnel with all four of my daughters. However, I predict that day will be filled with an intense sense of thankfulness, which will be difficult to handle as I won’t be present to cheer on the team. And that will not be simple.

Because, once more, I’m not aware of a city that supports citizens as much as Detroit does. Actually, I don’t. I’m not sure if there is or not. It’s also a difficult situation to not give it your all.

“It’s gonna be hard.”

She discussed the devotion of Detroit supporters, stating that Matthew saw their love during the Rams’ Super Bowl run. Although she will be cheering for the Rams, she will have a different sense when she travels about the city.

“In my heart, I’ll be praising God and feeling grateful for this spot because, in addition to being the apparent place where my four kids were born, I feel like it helped raise both my husband and myself. It will be difficult for me to want to defeat them because I have so much affection for that place, but it is the reality.

They’re attempting to savor the moment and make the most of it, despite how difficult it will be.

“If you really think about it, it’s kind of crazy,” Kelly stated. I’m urging myself to savor the moment because, really, how likely was it that this would occur? that a playoff game would be our first matchback in Detroit. Either you win or you lose. Enjoy this moment since it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. “Let’s f—— go!” was (Matthew’s) first text message to me following this game. He’s giddy. He’s prepared to return.”

However, Kelly is still trying to figure out how to secure tickets for her family, their children, and herself.

“As of now, there is no plan,” the woman stated. “I have no idea how I’m going to get there. I have no idea if I’ll enter the game or find a seat. Parents, friends, teammates, and individuals in Michigan have all questioned me about the situation. I’m not sure. I’m not sure what’s up.”

Since there aren’t many tickets left, she had to ask for assistance even though she generally tries to keep Matthew out of the ticket logistics.

Matthew’s response was as expected from a composed, cool quarterback. He informed her that he had discovered on the Lions website that there was only one suite left at Ford Field.
