Luke Humphries’ social media following has skyrocketed as a result of Luke Littler, his opponent in the World Darts Championship final.

Littler is one of the biggest stars in British sport at the moment, after his extraordinary run to the final at Ally Pally.

The 16-year-old narrowly lost against Humphries, the current world number one, 7–4.

Littler advanced to the final, defeating Christian Kist, Andrew Gilding, Matt Campbell, Raymond van Barneveld, Brendan Dolan, and Rob Cross, but he was unable to cross the finish line. Nevertheless, Littler left with a life-altering £200,000.

Since the start of the year, Littler and darts in general have received an enormous amount of media attention, propelling players into international celebrity.

Naturally, Littler has gotten the most of this and, since making his Instagram debut at the World Championship, has amassed an incredible one million followers.

With a selfless move, the boy has utilized his newfound platform to help the guy who stopped him from becoming the youngest-ever world champion.

Recently, Littler made public a direct message that Humphries had sent him to congratulate him on reaching the million-dollar mark.

Humphries wrote in jest, “That’s crazy, bro. You should tell some of them to follow me. Congratulations, dude.”

It’s becoming less surprising that the young athlete complied with his rival’s request as we learn more about this athletic prodigy.

Humphries remarked, “I’ve watched him play a lot of times. It can be much harder to succeed on this stage, but he’s just shown he has a lot of bottle.

“He won’t be phased by anything. I will most likely have to play the game of my life because if he plays like he did tonight, tomorrow will not phase him in the slightest.”

“I will probably have to play like that again to stand a chance of beating him,” Humphries continued. I am aware of the task at hand and what is in front of me.

“Tomorrow, I have to play at my best, but I also hope to make him play at his best so we can hopefully give the fans one of the best world finals they have ever seen.”
