Praise continues to pour in for Detroit Lions players.

After winning 12 games and earning their first division title in 30 years, five players were named to the Pro Bowl and seven players were named reserves. Five players earned Associated Press All-Pro honors Friday. Tackle Penei Sewell and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Louis. Brown was named to the first team, while center Frank Ragnow, tight end Sam LaPorta and special teams player Jalen Reeves-Maybin were named to the second team.

In his third season, Sewell, 23, has already become one of the most dominant tackles in the game. He earned his first AP All-Pro selection. The Lions have given up just 31 sacks on 646 dropbacks (4.8%) this season, fourth-highest in the NFL. Sewell is the NFL’s best blocking tackle, allowing just one sack and 14 hurries all season while playing both left and right tackle.

St. Brown was selected as a first-time Pro Bowl replacement this season, but the AP rates him as one of the league’s best at his position. This is his first All-Pro selection. Brown, 24, ranks first in the NFL in 100-yard receiving games (nine) this season, tied for second in receptions (119), third in receiving yards (1,515) and third in touchdowns (10). ), ranked number 1 and 3rd. Down snap move (75). He ranks third in NFL history in receptions (315) over the first three seasons of his career.

Ragnow, 27, was named to his third Pro Bowl this season and earned his second All-Pro honors (2020). He leads one of the best offensive lines in football. Their 27 rushing touchdowns were a franchise record and tied for the league lead with Miami and San Francisco. Ragnow allowed just one sack all season and was ranked the best center in the NFL this season by Pro Football Focus.

LaPorta, 22, is coming off one of the best rookie seasons in NFL history. He surpassed Keith Jackson (1988) for most receptions in a season, ahead of any rookie (86). During the regular season, he had 86 receptions for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns. He ranks fourth among all tight ends in receptions, fifth in yards and first in touchdowns this season. Receiving Pro Bowl and All-Pro recognition in his first season is quite an accomplishment.

Reeves-Maybin, 28, is a seven-year veteran in his second stint with the Lions. He is one of the league’s best special teams players and was named to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro team for the first time this season. He currently holds the team record for special tackles with 13 this season. He also played a key role in converting a pair of fake punts. In Week 1, he rushed for 3 yards and faked a punt to make it 4-2. In Week 17, he completed another successful fake punt conversion on fourth-and-2, passing to cornerback Khalil Dorsey for 31 yards.
