From 2009 to 2020, Matthew Stafford, the quarterback for the Rams, and his spouse Kelly lived in Detroit for a total of 12 years.

In the most anticipated NFL wild-card game in years, the Stafford family made a comeback to Ford Field on Sunday for a playoff game that featured his new team against his old one. But after sixty minutes of play, it was his old team, the Lions, who won.

Following the completion of yesterday night’s game, Kelly Stafford posted a brief message to the city of Detroit on Instagram along with a few comments about her husband’s NFL future.

“What a season.. and for it to end at ford field,” Kelly said. “I’m already looking forward to the upcoming Rams season.”

“And he will be back next year detroit, but until then, go get you one!!!”

Stafford, 35, had a great performance on his own in Sunday’s loss to Detroit. 25 out of 36 pass attempts were completed by him for 367 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.

But, as was the case during his lengthy tenure with the Lions, Stafford’s valiant attempts were in vain as the Rams were unable to stop Detroit’s offense from getting on the field.

The NFC wild-card game victor from Monday, either from Philadelphia or Tampa Bay, will now play the Lions in the divisional round the following weekend.
