Mike McCarthy, the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, would be shocked to learn that he is under fire after the team’s humiliating loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night.

McCarthy’s Cowboys contract is set to expire in one year. McCarthy was reportedly told in private by Jerry Jones that the coach’s position was secure during the season, according to Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. However, when offered the opportunity to officially declare that McCarthy will make a comeback in 2024, Jones told reporters, “we’ll see how each game goes,” just prior to the start of the playoffs.

This does not seem well for McCarthy’s future with the team if Jones was actually evaluating McCarthy’s work performance on a game-by-game basis. McCarthy is sixty years old.

It’s possible that Jones gave McCarthy reassurance that his job was secure during the regular season when the Cowboys were performing well. If Jones decided to change his mind after Dallas was humiliated 48-32 by the Packers at AT&T Stadium on Sunday, it wouldn’t exactly be stunning.

Jones missed another chance to put an end to the McCarthy rumors after Sunday’s defeat.

The owner of the Cowboys stated, “I won’t get into to addressing any aspects or any part of it. It’s as fresh on me right now as it is on anybody else.” “From the players to the coaching to the upcoming events.”

McCarthy has guided the Cowboys to three straight seasons with twelve wins. If Bill Belichick had stayed with the New England Patriots, Jones would likely have a lot less to worry about, even though the playoff outcomes have been disappointing.

Numerous well-known reporters have stated that Jones will at the very least think about reaching out to recruit Belichick to Dallas. Jones, who is 81 years old, has spoken publicly how much he would like to win a Super Bowl during his lifetime. A shift may be on the horizon if he feels Belichick has a greater chance of winning a title than McCarthy.
