Following their devastating Wild Card Round loss to the Green Bay Packers at AT&T Stadium on Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys returned to The Star in Frisco on Monday morning to complete their exit talks with head coach Mike McCarthy and to clear out their lockers.

On Monday, there was a solemn atmosphere in the locker room as the players and coaches were still in disbelief at their early departure.

“It is not yet a full day,” stated Jourdan Lewis, the cornerback. “Still shocked more than anything.”

Mike McCarthy met with the whole squad at noon to discuss his sentiments regarding the conclusion of the season in addition to the exit talks.

He sympathized with us, Lewis remarked. “He sincerely desired it for us. He was aware of the kind of guys we are and how well we bonded. He desired it.

Jerry Jones, the team’s owner and general manager, also stopped by to talk with them and convey his urgency on their desire to win.

Lewis stated, “His message was we gotta win.” “It’s the Dallas Cowboys. We had everything to come out on top. It makes sense because we can’t allow this sensation to continue. All I can think of is that he wants to win now. The time for urgency is now. That’s what was always expected of us. It was evident from him what the main idea was.

As rumors swirled about potential moves Jerry Jones would make regarding players, Mike McCarthy, and other matters, Lewis seized the chance to support his head coach and quarterback for the season they had.

“This is one of the hardest jobs in America,” he stated. “The Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback and head coach. I think [McCarthy’s] done an amazing job taking everything into account. It’s not too easy. We just made sure we put our arms around each other and stayed together in the face of many people who were against you and the outside noise. I believe he performed incredibly well.”

“Observe what transpired in his absence. We were having trouble breaking.500. We won 12 games in a season three times in a row. I would think that he would return.
