Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen made history with a 52-yard field goal in Sunday’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, sparking plenty of chatter online as well.
Allen led the Bills 21-0 through the Steelers defense for a touchdown in the second quarter, using a deflection move to outrun a defensive back in the secondary. However, some Steelers fans disagreed with the move and accused Allen of using a “fake” slide to freeze the Steelers defenders.
The controversy intrigued some Bills fans and reporters, who dismissed the idea that Allen was trying to fool the defense, and is now banned at the college level after being used by Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett.

Allen’s streak, the longest postseason streak in franchise history and the second-longest streak in NFL history, has drawn praise from around the NFL world. This also drew the ire of many Steelers fans, who accused him of dropping and preventing a quarterback from hitting him.
“That’s why the league can’t make QB babies.” Someone wrote X. “Allen slows down, as if going down or sliding, then keeps running. If you smoke, you will be punished. “Slanted Playground”.
Others suggested the league created an unfair situation for quarterbacks by giving them extra protection and creating a situation where batters fear a hit.
“This is a fake slide. The QB shouldn’t have extra protection if he decides to run,” another fan wrote, making it difficult. “Players don’t want to risk losing money and getting penalized.”
However, many Bills fans noted that Allen did not take a downward motion such as a slide, instead hesitating when changing direction.NFL Network’s Andrew Siciliano defended Allen, noting that his pitch looked very different from Pickett’s obviously fake slide when he was a quarterback at Pitt.

Teammate begged josh Allen to step down
Allen’s teammates were surprised by the long run. Wide receiver Khalil Shakir, who played well in the fourth quarter, said his shoulders were shaking when he saw Allen’s long run
“This guy can do anything at any time,” Shakir said, via Channel X reporter Jonathan Acosta. “If you have a guy like that on your team, especially leading the team at quarterback … good luck.
“Bills center Mitch Morse said when he appeared on The Pat McAfee Show that he begged Allen to play and that his teammates tried to change his behavior to no avail.”We ask for it to drop every now and then,” Morse joked.
