Regarding QB coach Brian Griese’s conversations with Brock Purdy, Kyle Shanahan spoke.

NFL head coaches occasionally have to put out fires, and Kyle Shanahan of the San Francisco 49ers put out a recent fire with his quarterback and quarterbacks coach.

Shanahan sidestepped a reporter’s question regarding 49ers quarterbacks coach Brian Griese’s admission of having tense conversations with quarterback Brock Purdy. But Shanahan anticipates a fair amount of fervor on the sidelines for the press conference on Thursday prior to Saturday’s Divisional Round matchup with the Green Bay Packers.

Regarding the conversations between Griese and Purdy, Shanahan told reporters, “I don’t know exactly how it goes over there.” “Normally, they’re seated and conversing, but I become quite agitated.” Griese manages me rather nicely.

Therefore, I don’t believe he’s lost his mind or anything. I would have repeatedly pressed that button if he had been. Shanahan continued, “Brock has it in him too. “He’s a competitive guy, Brock. He’s not just going to sit there, either. I believe that we are all somewhat similar.

Prior to starting as the 49ers’ coach in 2022, Griese was an NFL quarterback and worked for ESPN. That same year, Purdy was selected with the 49ers’ penultimate pick in the draft. However, he went on to establish himself as a starter and MVP contender when injuries to Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance, the team’s past quarterbacks, occurred.

“We enjoy having sincere conversations, and it gets really intense when you do it during a football game. About Griese and Purdy, Shanahan remarked, “You expect to have that.” “It’s usually not that genuine of a relationship if you work with someone with whom you don’t have those kinds of conversations.”

Griese and Purdy will collaborate once more on Saturday as the 49ers attempt to outscore a high-powered Packers attack that defeated the Dallas Cowboys with 48 points in the Wild Card round.

Prior to this, Purdy discussed and minimized the side talks he had with Griese.

Purdy told reporters on Wednesday, “At the end of the day, we want to win and we’re competitors at heart.” “He performed this role effectively, and as a result, he is awarded.”

“At quarterback, we have a standard that we adhere to, and we’re obviously very hard on ourselves.” He’s the first to let me know when I’m not performing to my full potential, which I adore,” Purday continued. “As a quarterback, I want a coach that is genuine, sets high standards, doesn’t have any slack with us, and doesn’t allow any space for error.”

Purdy went on, “I don’t think I’d be playing good football if that were the case.” “I couldn’t perform to the best of my abilities.

Purdy’s talent reached new heights in the 2023 regular season, as he completed 69.4% of his passes while throwing for 4,280 yards and 31 touchdowns. If he wins again on Saturday, he can make this season even more magical.
