After Dallas’ heartbreaking loss in the Wild Card round, the coach will be under intense scrutiny the following season.

Coach Mike McCarthy recognized that the team’s performance was more than disappointing when they were eliminated early by the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card stage of the playoffs, despite being reappointed on Wednesday by Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

The coach was forthright with the fans, reminding them that he is not solely to blame for the team’s nearly three-decade title drought, now that a significant portion of the fan base and the team culture have lost faith in him and he will start to prepare for the upcoming season on the “hot seat.”

“I’m still shaken, and it’s still fresh.” It’s that easy: one team performed at their level, while the other did not. At a news conference on Thursday, he expressed his disappointment with the team’s performance this season, saying, “Unfortunately, we didn’t, so I’m very disappointed with our performance, just not playing at our level.”

Given that the Cowboys have won two division titles in a row and had three seasons with at least 12 wins, McCarthy’s leadership of the team hasn’t been all that horrible.

Mc Carthy: I know how to win

He reaffirmed his confidence in his ability to guide the squad to end its agonizing 28-year title drought, even in the face of a challenging climate.

Despite demonstrating that he struggles with the pressure of winning in the postseason, McCarthy’s boss gave him support in the final year of his contract, thereby confirming Dak Prescott as the starting quarterback: “I believe in Dak.” He is, I think, the solution. Going ahead, he’s a part of the solution, the coach stated.

It’s true that Prescott, who finished with 36 touchdown passes and only 8 interceptions, had his best season as a professional last year. Despite this, he threw two interceptions in the first half of the playoffs, one of which was converted into a pick-six.
