The Cowboys decided to go with head coach Mike McCarthy next season, at least after learning that team owner Jerry Jones couldn’t convince Bill Belichick to move to Dallas this offseason.

McCarthy weighed several options Thursday to sell his belief that the Cowboys can find the level of postseason success that has eluded the franchise for nearly three decades, a day after it was confirmed they would return for a fifth season. Amazing performance. Wild card loss to Green Bay.

“To the dismay of many Dallas Cowboys fans, owner Jerry Jones has decided to keep current head coach Mike McCarthy on for at least one more year after a disappointing performance in the NFL playoffs,” a source told DailyMail.com.

“A lot of people thought Mike was good enough to be fired, but the main reason he wasn’t there was because Jerry Jones realized relatively quickly that he couldn’t save Bill Belichick. “If Belichick makes himself available, Jerry Jones will immediately fire Mike McCarthy because he wants to do whatever it takes to win another Super Bowl for the Cowboys.”
