The way the Eagles ended their season can only be described as a mess. Philly was the best team all year. The team started 10-1 and beat several contenders, including the Bills and Chiefs. In the week following the Bills’ win, things seemed to fall apart.
The Eagles face the second-place 49ers in their first game of December. The game was a nightmare for Philadelphia as the Niners completely suppressed their rushing game, allowing just 46 yards to all players. The defense couldn’t stop Brock Purdy, who scored four touchdowns and had his best game of the season.
After that loss, Philly traveled to division rival Dallas. That’s exactly what happened in this game. The defense was unstoppable and the Eagles were down by over 20 points again, but this one was more heartbreaking.
After that game, Philly lost three of their next four games to end the regular season. The Eagles then finished as the fifth seed in the NFC and limped into the wild card that was Tampa Bay.
The bakers were hungry and it showed. The Bucs quickly jumped out to a 10-0 lead, and the Philly defense seemed to have forgotten how to tackle. Tampa did exactly what they needed to do to win this game, and that was take advantage of the Eagles’ broken defense. Cornerback James Bradberry struggled the most Monday night and allowed the most yards for the team.
