Following their 24-21 victory over the Green Bay Packers at Levi’s Stadium, the San Francisco 49ers have been accused by the NFL of manipulating the postseason in their favor.

With one quarter remaining, the Californian squad trailed 21-14, but Christian McCaffrey came through with two touchdowns to help his team escape jail. They will wait to find out who they play in the NFC Conference game, as they are now just one game away from making their Super Bowl debut.

Despite this, after a contentious call by the umpires in the 49ers’ game against the Packers in the first half, there is accusations that the NFL and the sport are favoring the 49ers.

The play came as Jordan Love’s team was in the redzone and the quarterback tried to play it cool in an attempt to go for a first-and-goal play on a fourth-and-one. Nevertheless, the play was ruled short by the officials, which resulted to a 49ers turnover on downs.

Fans were incensed when the 49ers, who could have been down 10-0 to the visiting team, scored their first touchdown of the game to make it 7-3 after that play.

One user wrote on X.com, formerly Twitter, “It’s official the @nfl is rigged.”

Another expressed agreement, writing: “The NFL is the largest example of manipulated sports propaganda ever.”

According to a third, “Rigged NFL wanted the 49ers to win this game by any means necessary from the get-go.”

Sport’s fine moments

Despite being the NFC’s #1 seed, the 49ers were significantly outplayed by a team that had to be considered seriously after humiliating the Dallas Cowboys in the previous round.

Furthermore, instead of being broad narratives and plays, contests often come down to narrow moments, as many sports figures would attest. That’s precisely what occurred on Saturday night in the Bay Area.

Anders Carslon missed a field goal attempt that would have increased their advantage to seven points, or one touchdown, with them up 21-17. All it took for 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy to take control was that unsuccessful kick.

One pass at a time, he skillfully threaded the 49ers up the field, setting up McCaffrey for a game-winning rushing touchdown that left the Wisconsin side thinking of what could have been.
