This is improbable, yet it comes directly from Pete Prisco, a longtime reporter for the Jaguars.

There haven’t been many bigger or more powerful people for the last four seasons than general manager Trent Baalke. Baalke will lead the Jaguars for the foreseeable future, according to all accounts.
Former Jaguars writer and current CBS Sports analyst Pete Prisco said on the CBS Sports Pick Six Podcast that this might be more temporary than people believe.
“There are rumblings that maybe he is going to walk away, but I don’t know if that’s true,” stated Prisco.
“That’s— well, retire, perhaps, I’m not sure. Who knows? When questioned about the report by the host, Prisco responded, “But I can’t imagine he leaves that job.” T
Although this rumor is clearly less than definitive, it is nevertheless worth keeping an eye on because it originates from a longtime Jaguars insider who has been closely following the team throughout its entire existence.
Baalke’s departure as general manager of the Jaguars in 2024 seems illogical. Shad Khan, the owner of the Jaguars, holds Baalke in high regard, and there are no signs that he will be leaving anytime soon, either on his own volition or Khan’s.
Although Baalke served as Dave Caldwell’s temporary general manager in 2020 following his dismissal, he has been the Jaguars’ general manager since the offseason of 2021. In 2020, Baalke joined the company as the Director of Player Personnel.
Baalke worked for the NFL league office as a football operations consultant prior to joining the Jaguars. He served as the San Francisco 49ers’ general manager from 2011 to 2016.
