With new defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen taking over as New Orleans’ co-coordinator alongside Chris Richards in 2022, it looks like the two could be reunited in Jacksonville.

According to KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson, the Jaguars interviewed Richard for a position with the state.

Richard and Nielsen shared a coordinator role with the Saints in 2022, also coached together in New Orleans in 2021 and played together under Pete Carroll at USC in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Richard was the defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys from 2018 to 2019 and led a strong Saints secondary for two reasons.

Prior to that, Richard was with the Seattle Seahawks from 2010 to 2017, where he was reunited with his college coach at Carroll. Richard started as an assistant defensive backs coach in 2010 and was promoted to cornerbacks coach in 2011.
