Paul Merson believes Liverpool’s title hopes will be dashed in a week’s time when they face Chelsea and Arsenal in Premier League games.
The Reds play Chelsea at Anfield on January 31 before traveling to Arsenal for the big game on February 4.
In his Sky Sports column, Merson gave his opinion on Liverpool’s chances of winning the title, saying: “I wouldn’t say Liverpool are favorites to win the title. City just need to win, win, win again.
They are on a 10 game unbeaten streak. Watch it now. They have won eight of their last nine games [in all competitions]. Their team is so great. Since the start of the season they have beaten Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne and they are still here.
The difference between City, Liverpool and Arsenal is that City can win 10 games in a row and nobody will notice. “It would be great if Liverpool and Arsenal did that.” Liverpool’s title run could be over in a week.
They are playing at home against Chelsea and you never know what kind of Chelsea they are going to be. They are playable, so it’s a difficult game.“And they go to Arsenal and if this FA Cup game goes like this, Arsenal will win that game. “Before you know it, it’s all over for Liverpool.”
