SAN FRANCISCO – With the NFC Championship Game just three days away, the San Francisco 49ers received some good news Thursday when Deebo Samuel returned to the practice field.

Needless to say, the 49ers called it a limited-capacity workout regimen for the wide receiver, who got a little hug from teammate George Kittle on the field.

Samuel worked out and threw a few passes as quarterback Brock Purdy recovered from a shoulder injury that kept him out of Saturday’s win over the Packers.

We won’t have an official indication of Samuel’s injury until Friday, but it’s important to keep in mind the extent to which Samuel will be tested on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Samuel missed practice on Wednesday.

“Every time he’s there, he brings an extra set of juices that it’s hard to recreate without,” says Christian McCaffrey. Kittle said he was glad Samuel was on the scene. “He’s a big part of our offense and everything we do. “His energy alone is contagious℅.”I hope he carries that energy into Sunday’s game.
