While Jawaan Taylor, Arden Key, and Evan Engram had contracts that were about to expire, the Jaguars were expected to return almost every starter and important role player.

But going into the 2024 offseason, the Jaguars have more questions than answers this time around.

We didn’t have a lot of cap space to deal with the previous year. We have spent the first two years in free agency. Will we be acting in a more hostile manner? We think our core group of players is strong,” general manager Trent Baalke stated on Thursday.

However, when we put the pads on in April and begin the offseason program, this club will look different. The team will appear different. All of the National Football League’s teams will have unique looks, including our team. The extent of the differences will vary depending on many of the conversations we have over the upcoming weeks.

Josh Allen and Calvin Ridley are two of the Jaguars’ major pending free agents heading into this summer, but there are many unanswered concerns about the contracts of Cam Robinson, Brandon Scherff, Rayshawn Jenkins, Darious Williams, and other players.

Does that imply that Baalke and the Jaguars will be more involved in the offseason than they were last year? Not exactly. On Thursday, Baalke justified his team’s lack of activity during the previous offseason, but it’s unclear what it would entail for the team going ahead.

I’m not a regretful person. I don’t work like that. Are there any choices you make now that you wonder, “What if we had done this?” “What if we had taken that action?” All of us could have, would have, and should have been defeated “said Baalke.

We thought we had a really competitive football team returning, so you do the best you can. We still believe that our football squad will be competitive when it returns. The season was not favorable to us. A week ago, there were four teams remaining. Two of those teams we defeated, one we lost by a single point, and one we trailed by three points with four minutes remaining in the third quarter. We believed that our football team was competitive. We all have to take responsibility for the fact that we didn’t win as many games as we would have liked to. This is the only place to look. We’ve realized there are some things we must do, and we’re making the necessary adjustments as we go.
