Sunday night, for thirty minutes, it appeared as though the 49ers would end their season with a thud. However, they were an entirely different team during the second half of the NFC Championship Game when they emerged from the locker room.

Following the historic game, everyone congratulated San Francisco on their second Super Bowl trip in four seasons on social media, from Ryan Clark and Amy Trask to former 49ers great Patrick Willis.

The 49ers will play the Chiefs on Sunday, February 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The 49ers finished with a 12-5 record, which earned them the No. 1 NFC seed. During the playoffs, they also defeated the Green Bay Packers and Lions.

If Purdy can go from being the final pick in the draft to winning the Super Bowl in only two seasons, he would have completed one of the most unlikely storylines in NFL history.

Then Purdy’s detractors would have nothing more to argue with.
