Highlights of the NFL’s AFC and NFC Championship Showdowns: Key Plays and Important Moments

Christian McCaffrey, the top rushing back for the San Francisco 49ers, let up late in the thrilling comeback against the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.

The NFL rushing champion was struck by Lions defensive back Kerby Joseph to cap off a huge CMC 25-yard sprint in the fourth quarter, resulting in a right shoulder injury.

In the end, McCaffrey removed himself from the contest. Elijah Mitchell, a running back, took his position and led the 49ers to a 10-point lead with a touchdown.

49ers Gives Christian McCaffrey's Injury Updates Ahead Of Super Bowl LVIII

Ultimately, McCaffrey was not present for San Francisco’s last six offensive plays. After the game, he discussed the injury.

Christian McCaffrey stated, “My shoulder felt a little weird,” according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. And I didn’t want to lose my grasp on the ball, particularly at such an important moment.

Furthermore, Mitch is amazing. He enters there and scores a touchdown. I was pleased and pleased with him and our entire group. We won. I was only concerned with it.

With fewer than two weeks until San Francisco plays the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII, there doesn’t seem to be much cause for anxiety.

During a Monday Q&A with the media, San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan did not bring up McCaffrey when discussing injury updates.

Shanahan only mentioned two players: tight end George Kittle (toe) and cornerback Ambry Thomas (ankle). This clearly portends positively for McCaffrey’s future standing.

The 49ers’ reliance on McCaffrey is already widely acknowledged. During the regular season, the NFL MVP finalist led the league in running yards (1,459), total yards (2,023), touches (339), and touchdowns (21).
